Contempt for democracy
I am disappointed with MP Kat Cammack’s vote not to despise Steve Bannon for failing to meet the special committee’s summons to investigate the January 6th uprising. The oversight of Congress is a vital function of our democracy.
Republicans respect law and order and accountability. Just recently they spent $ 7 million on 10 hearings over four years investigating the attack on our embassy in Benghazi. However, they do not want to investigate an attack on our own Capitol, on our own soil, in which our own police force was attacked and Cammack deliberately obstructed a lawful investigation.
Perhaps Cammack is concerned about her guilt for the attack. Her actions before, during, and after the uprising are sure to leave a mark on her legacy. Their contempt for democracy is evident in their attempt to reject tens of millions of legally cast votes in the 2020 presidential election.
If we allow the subpoenas of Congress to be ignored as a precedent, the future of our democracy will suffer.

Appease Trump
It is very clear that Donald Trump Republicans will be throwing away over 200 years of American democracy to appease Trump’s fantasy that the 2020 national elections will be stolen from him.
A number of Republican lawmakers are enacting laws allowing them to bypass the results of local elections that they disagree with and to create their own list of voters. These voters will vote in the electoral college to decide who will become president.
Yes, Democrats, Independents and others, you are no longer free to vote. If you’re not a Trumpite, your vote doesn’t count. This is now happening in states like Texas and Arizona. This is not a future nightmare: Trump and the Republican Party are now building the apparatus for a dictatorship.
Dismiss me as an alarmist, but the data can be investigated by all Americans. We can either advocate a constitutional amendment to elect presidents solely by referendum, or we can pass the voting right proposed by the Democrats in Congress. Indifference is not an option!

Annoying rules
Thank you Governor Ron DeSantis for finally looking into this whole issue of government interference. It’s time someone finally did something about all these pesky public health and safety rules.
Who needs seat belts? They keep getting twisted and caught closing my car door. What an aggravation!
It’s my phone and I paid good money to buy it so I can keep in touch with all of my best friends 100%. Even if I am exercising my right to drive my car as I wish.
Child seats are expensive and always full of smelly things. And don’t let me start with speed limits.
When nurses and doctors in hospitals literally go crazy taking care of patients infected with the coronavirus and dying, what’s the point? Let her get another job. After all, patients exercised their right to be infected – they have the right to take care of themselves.
There are many examples of government interference in our private lives, licensing requirements for almost everything: fishing, hunting, driving a car, opening a business, getting married, etc.
Governor, are you really paying attention to what needs to be done to be a truly effective leader?
