St. Petersburg A rich mix of architecture and tennis
St. Petersburg is known for its thousands of beautifully preserved historical buildings with a rich architectural mix. Against this background, the St. Petersburg Open began in 1995, when the Russian Yevgeny Kafelnikov raised the trophy. Marat Safin won consecutive titles in 2000-08 and Andy Murray was the only other consecutive title winner in 2007-08. The Russian stars Daniil Medvedev (2019) and Andrey Rublev (2020) won the last two editions of the event.
Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the St. Petersburg Open 2021 will be held in week 43 alongside the Erste Bank Open in Vienna.
