The Leon County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man Thursday morning after allegedly shooting a woman in a domestic violence case.
It started when a woman came to a Tallahassee hospital around 7 a.m. Thursday morning with a gunshot wound, which resulted in an employee calling 911.
Responding MPs soon learned that the shooting was “domestic” and that “the man fled the scene after the shooting”.
Knowing this, the MPs went to an apartment on the 1800 block of Littleton Circle, where the woman was shot.
At that point, Moore Elementary School, which is within walking distance of the crime scene, was on “lockout,” meaning no one was allowed to enter campus, according to a district spokesman Chris Petley.
At around 10:30 a.m., the suspect was found and arrested near Mayhew Street and Pepper Drive. The sheriff’s office has not released the suspect’s name and his charges were pending Thursday afternoon.
The woman is in stable condition, said Angela Green, a spokeswoman for LCSO.

This is the sixth shooting last week and the second Thursday morning shooting.
Just before 9 a.m., a man opened fire in the Whispering Pines neighborhood of West Tallahassee, according to testimony and the LCSO. The suspect arrested at the scene hit nine houses and an unknown number of cars.
According to an analysis by the Democrat, there have been at least 14 dead and 43 injured in at least 67 shootings in Tallahassee since January 1.
