TALLAHASSEE, Florida (WCTV) – The United Church in Tallahassee hosted the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church’s mobile COVID unit for free health screenings on Saturday.
The health event featured COVID shots, COVID tests, and screenings for sickle cells.
Church organizers say they had a huge turnout on Saturday as more and more people look for their COVID booster vaccinations.
“So far the registered list was really full of people who wanted booster shots. We believe they waited for the CDC and FDA to release the boosters specifically for Moderna, which resulted in our registrations doubling overnight, ”said Erica D. Moore, Chair of the Community Action Committee at United Church .
WCTV asked officials at Bethel’s mobile COVID unit about FDA approval for the emergency use of Pfizer vaccine for children ages 5 and up.
They say they will be equipped and ready to inject children as soon as they receive the doses.
In the meantime, United Church is hosting their annual craft fair on Saturday, November 6th, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
All proceeds go to Connection First, a charity that helps children at risk in Tallahassee.
On November 14th, United Church will reopen its face-to-face services after being closed due to the COVID pandemic.
