1st quarter

• Pittsburgh on the first drive of the game. Miami forces a third down, but Kenny Pickett throws a 37-yard pass to Gavin Bartholomew for a first down.

• Zach McCloud and Jordan Miller join a 9-yard sack, but two games later Pickett found Taysir Mack for a 23-yard pass over the middle in front of Safety Kamren Kinchens making his first start and over Te ‘ Cory Couch took cover to 1. Israel Abanikanda stormed the next game to the 7-0 lead, 12:09 minutes behind.

• Tyler Van Dyke was sacked on the first play for Miami, but responded two plays later with a 57-yard pass to Key’Shawn Smith and followed Elijah Arroyo for his first touchdown and with a 20-yard score in the middle a 7-all tie.

• Tyrique Stevenson broke a pass in fourth place on the Panthers’ second drive, while Miami took the lead at 30.

• Miami combine a 14-7 lead with a trick play that resulted in Van Dyke throwing a 57-yard touchdown pass to Will Mallory, who scored for the second straight week.

• A Gilbert Frierson sack finished the Panthers’ third drive.

• Miami struck another big game, this time with a 40-yard touchdown run by Jaylan Knighton to take them 21-7.

• Miami’s defense put a lot of pressure on Pickett, forcing an incompleteness in third place. Sam Scarton scored a 38-yard field goal to bring the deficit down to 21-10.

• Miami struck for the first time and Pitt responded with a 39 yard finish from Pickett to Jordan Addison to end a fun first quarter totaling over 200 yards for both teams.

2nd quarter

• Pitt has the ball at Miami 45. Pickett looks in control and finds Abanikanda for a 20-yard score while Waynmon Steed and Te’Cory Couch miss a tackle on 10. Pitt draws 21-17 and Pickett has 243. reaches meters a few minutes into the quarter.

• The Hurricanes took advantage of two 15 yard roughing passer penalties to get the ball into the Pitt 15. After a 3rd and 10th confrontation game, Van Dyke only completed a 6-yard pass. Andres Borregales then converted a 26-yard field goal for a 24-17 lead.

• In a potentially crucial sequence of the game, Pittsburgh chose to play and play for field position from the Miami 38, forcing a punt on subsequent possession. After 24-17, Pitt will begin her next ride on the Miami 45.

• Stevenson got his first interception as a hurricane when Pickett threw in double coverage and threw back 39 yards. It was only Pickett’s second pick of the season.

• Both quarterbacks had great days with Van Dyke, who completed 15 of 21 passes for 267 yards and two scores, while Pickett threw for 307 yards and a touchdown with an interception after 23-of-34 passes.

• Both teams will try to make important adjustments in a game, both teams need a win.

3rd quarter

• Pittsburgh start into the second half. Miami with a three-and-off that ends with a sack on Van Dyke. Jaylon Barden then returned the punt 32 yards down to the Miami 27.

• Pickett then rolled left and threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Jared Wayne to pull Pitt within 31-24.
