A man driving a yellow school bus was killed Tuesday after colliding with a tree near West Tennessee Street and Senator Pat Thomas Road shortly after 3 p.m., Tallahassee police said.
There were no passengers on the bus, which was marked with a Tomahawk Transportation logo. According to the website, it is a charter service that is widely used for school trips, sports activities, corporate events, and summer camps.

Chris Petley, a school district spokesman, said the charter bus rental had nothing to do with Leon County Schools. A representative from Tomahawk Transportation declined to comment.
Immediately after the crash, West Tennessee Street was confined to one lane going west before the entire lane was reopened hours later, according to TPD spokeswoman Heather Merritt, who was unable to comment on the crash because it was “under investigation.”
