How healthy is D’Eriq King?
The Miami star quarterback missed the Central Connecticut game with a shoulder injury because it was a short week before Virginia Central Connecticut. Tyler Van Dyke was great in the 69-0 win, but when he’s healthy, King makes all the difference.
For a team that made the turnover chain a big deal, Miami has a mega problem with sales margin, and the offense isn’t showing enough constant pop to make up for the mistakes.
Virginia leads the nation in passing averaging over 430 yards per game – Brennan Armstrong has come off over 400 yards in each of his last three games.
The Miami Pass defense was toasted by the losses to Alabama and Michigan State – the team lost their last four games by flying over 200 yards.

The Cavaliers have the worst running defense in the ACC after being hit 577 yards in losses to North Carolina and Wake Forest. Miami was terribly on the ground in the two defeats and rumbled on the victories.
As of 2019, Miami has won its last six games by reaching 160 yards or more – it has to run and keep testing the Virginia Defense Front.
Miami may not play that great overall, but the D comes into the backcourt and should continue to roll against a shaky offensive front from Virginia.

Can both teams play any defense?
Virginia is being bombed far too heavily just as the Miami passport attack begins. This should be a wild shootout between two disappointing teams, and it should all be a lot of fun with a lot of great games.
Miami’s ability to get into the backcourt will make just enough of a difference to make ends meet. It’s not going to take the season out of a nosedive, but taking the home win will be a big deal after the bumpy start.
