A woman died in the early hours of Thursday morning in the partial collapse of a Florida condo, according to CBS Miami.
Part of Champlain Towers South on Collins Avenue in Surfside, Florida collapsed just after 1 a.m. Thursday.
At least eight people have been taken to the hospital, according to ABC7, another local news channel.
The building is one block from Jared Kushner’s and Ivanka Trump’s Miami homes.
Videos and pictures posted on Twitter showed debris from the collapsed building and responded with fire fighters.

It was unclear whether people were still trapped at 5:30 a.m. local time. One of the rescued was a boy about 10 years old, according to CBS Miami.
The crime scene video showed rescues from the balconies of the collapsed apartment, including NBC Miami footage showing a young person being pulled from the rubble:

Tweets from student reporter Eric Wasserman, who was on site, said residents were trapped in the un-collapsed part of the building and that more than one person was injured, including a firefighter.
The Miami-Dade Fire Department said more than 80 units took part in the collapse. The Miami Beach police were also there.

A property profile of Champlain Towers South said it was built in 1981. There are 136 units on the 12-story property, with two and three bedrooms, ranging from $ 590,000 to $ 915,000.
The site of the building collapse is just a few minutes from the posh Arte Surfside, where Kushner and Trump are supposed to rent a house.
Insider Katie Warren wrote that the couple had pledged to rent a “large unfurnished unit” for at least a year shortly after purchasing $ 32 million property on a private island known as Miami’s “Billionaires Bunker.” .

The fire department and police in the area did not immediately respond to inquiries from insiders whether someone was injured or injured when the building collapsed.
It’s not the first time a building has collapsed on Collins Avenue in Miami Beach. In 2018, CNN reported that an empty 13-story building on 5775 Collins Avenue that was about to be demolished collapsed at an unplanned time, seriously injuring one person.
