ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) – In St. Petersburg, Lightning fans filled Ferg’s Sports Bar in hopes that the sixth game in the series would be the last game and the Lightning would play for the Stanley Cup again. Bridget Cunningham was one of them.
“And I texted all my friends in Long Island because I’m from New York and thanks for trying, but you’re done,” said Cunningham. “Very exciting. I’m a new resident of Tampa … almost two years so I’m here for the Bucs and now two Stanley Cup champions.”
The Tampa Bay native teams up with Lightning to help fans be the thunder
When Tampa Bay scored the first goal, believers were quick to remind everyone that in every game in this series, the team to score the first goal won the game.
Carmen Delledonne brought his own inflatable Stanley Cup to the Ferg watch party.
“I mean, we’re in the zone. I don’t expect an 8-0 win, but now we just have to lean on them, ”said Delledonne. “At the end of the day we’re really at a good point … we just have to score a few more goals and I think we can lock up here in New York.”
The Lightning unfortunately lost Game 6 in extra time. Game 7 is scheduled for Friday in Tampa.
