Golisano Children's Hospital partners with Walmart and Sam's Club to improve the health of children in Southwest Florida: SF STAT !: South Florida Hospital News

The fundraiser runs from June 28th to July 25th

June 25, 2021 – At just 8 years old, Rylee Cappuccili is an example of strength and endurance as she continues to face the challenges of a spinal cord injury she has had since she was born.

The always smiling third grader is one of many children in southwest Florida who receive life-saving care at Golisano Children’s Hospital, the only children’s hospital in the region. In 2012, she learned to breathe on her own without 24-hour ventilation, and in 2017, she overcame an operation to remove a tracheostomy. Her mother Andrea calls it a miracle.

“It was the happiest day of our lives,” says Andrea Cappuccili, Rylee’s mother. “We got our baby back. We have shed so many tears of joy. Rylee gives the nurses and doctors at the hospital a special treat. You have brought us so much peace in our most troubling times. “

As a partner of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Golisano Children’s Hospital receives support through its affiliate fundraising campaigns, such as the upcoming Walmart and Sam’s Club campaign, to help children like Rylee.

“We are very fortunate to have a community that truly comes together to support the patients we care for at Golisano Children’s Hospital,” said Chris Simoneau, Lee Health’s chief Foundation and Development Officer. “Your generosity enables us to offer the children in our region specialized and high quality care. With the Walmart and Sam’s Club campaign, you can help be a part of it. “

On June 28th, Walmart and Sam’s Club employees will start their fundraiser, which is now in its 34th year. It benefits the Golisano Children’s Hospital and offers customers and members many options to donate at the cash register or online.

Since 1987, this campaign has raised more than $ 1 billion for CMN hospitals across North America. Last year was the first year that the campaign benefited Golisano Children’s Hospital as a new CMN partner and raised more than $ 200,000 locally in southwest Florida.

“Sam Walton once told our founders that his staff would astound us; they certainly have and continue to do so, ”said Teri Nestel, President and CEO of CMN Hospitals. “These employees have a passion for making a positive impact on the health of children in their communities, and we are grateful for their support.”

There are many ways to donate to Golisano Children’s Hospital through the Walmart and Sam’s Club campaign. Southwest Florida customers and members can donate any dollar amount at the checkout or simply round up their purchase to the nearest dollar and give change in-store or while shopping online. You can also donate at www.SunshineAndMiracles.org.

The fundraiser runs until July 25th.
