The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Returning to Work for Southwest Florida

FORT MYERS, Florida – Many Southwest Floridians are still working from home, more than a year after the COVID-19 pandemic.

A big question that preoccupies many: will there ever be a full return to work, and if so when?

Fox 4 spoke to CareerSource Southwest Florida to answer these questions.

CareerSource works with several local business owners to understand their hiring needs so they have a good understanding of what most companies do.

The short answer was, yes, we will see a return to work for the majority of companies.

While some offer hybrid return to work models, CareerSource requires most employees to return to work.

A big reason they need personal employees is the emerging trends in automation.

“The workforce in southwest Florida is sure to change. We’ll see more automation. We can already see it today. Many people may not know, but automation and AI already exist in healthcare, manufacturing, and construction. That will go on. What we will really need is the emotional or social competence itself, the emotional intelligence of the workforce, ”explains Janeth P. Castrejon, communications manager at CareerSource Southwest Florida.

She said that right now there is no substitute for things like customer service, interacting with other people and empathy.

In this way we can get a better picture of the future of our workforce in the short term, but how does it look in the long term?

CareerSource Southwest Florida is hosting the third installment in its trilogy series about meeting our community’s future workforce needs.

Today’s symposium will be attended by state legislators and policymakers who will address the needs of entrepreneurs and those responsible for education.
