TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) – Raising awareness of HIV in the community was the focus of the Black Treatment Advocates Network’s Block Party.
For National HIV Testing Day, everyone who came to the block party was given a home test kit, an easier way to get people to take the test without the stigma of doing it in a clinical setting.
The Black Treatment Advocates Network said they wanted to create a positive experience for those attending the block party that addressed a serious issue.
“For our community, we want to make sure that this is the Black Treatment Advocate Network on our behalf,” said Black Treatment Advocate Network’s Kiara Adenola. “So we want to make sure we stand up for people who have no voice. This is one way of doing it.”
