Tampa is considered the best sports city in the country

Tampa is emerging as one of the top sports cities in the country, with the Buccaneers, Lightning and Rays dominating their leagues.

There’s a reason people are starting to call it “Champa Bay”. Tampa has been the sport’s mockery of everything but hockey for years, but in recent years a dramatic change has occurred that has revolutionized the face of the city.

For starters, even this Buccaneers fan can tell you that the Lightning is one of the best run organizations in the world. The fact that a city like Tampa can bring together the best hockey talent from around the world to form a team that has won a Stanley Cup and is making it back to the finals is just spectacular.

The Amalie Arena is one of the best stadiums to visit, the team is very committed to the community and again, everything takes place in a state where most of its schools don’t even have hockey.

The Rays made their comeback recently, pitching a Cy Young pitcher, and almost making it to the World Series, had it not been for the blatant Houston fraud. The Rays haven’t won the World Series yet, but with the third-best record in baseball and several years of intense postseason runs to build on, this could be their year.

And finally, by sheer will, the privateers crawled out of the depths of mediocrity. While it was just a successful season, 2021 was so good for the Bucs that it seems impossible to go back to the old ways now.

One of the most famous athletes in the sports world, Tom Brady is constantly pictured in his Buccaneers jersey, the roster is filled with young talent and the rest of the NFC seems way behind the champions.

The Bucs, much like the Lightning, are in a great position to repeat next season. We just have to see if the Lightning can pull off their replay first when they start the final leg of their playoff run on Monday.

This may seem like a dream, but there is no longer any argument for any other city in the country to rival Tampa. No other city can claim their fans at home win a Super Bowl and watch a Stanley Cup final play. And we haven’t even gotten to the baseball playoffs yet.

Gone are the days of the perpetual dominance of Boston, New York and Los Angeles. This writer sure is killing them to see their teams suffer at the hands of those from Tampa, but they just have to accept that going forward.
