FORT MYERS, Florida (June 24, 2021) – In May, a record 946,366 passengers passed through Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers. That was 562 percent more than in May 2020 and more than 30 percent more than in May 2019. Since the beginning of the year, the number of passengers has been 34.9 percent higher than in the previous year.
Southwest Airlines was the traffic operator in May with a total of 212,214 passengers. The top 5 airlines were rounded off by Delta (193,971), American (124,336), United (122,108) and JetBlue (94,007).
Southwest Florida International Airport had 9,203 operations, an increase of nearly 175 percent from May 2020. Page Field recorded 12,097 operations, an increase of 24.7 percent from May 2020.
Southwest Florida International Airport served nearly 6 million passengers in 2020 and is one of the 50 largest US airports for passenger traffic.
