TALLAHASSEE, Florida (WTXL) – Tallahassee police and community leaders want this summer to be a safer summer, now with these recent shootings there is more pressure to stop the violence we have seen.
There have been 30 shootings in Tallahassee since January, six of which resulted in one death.
The Sunday morning Potbelly’s shoot is the second at College Avenue Bar in four months.
The first happened in March when a Florida A&M University student was injured.
According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s crime report, there were violent crimes in Leon County in 2020.
City Commissioner Curtis Richardson said the violence must end, the communities must come together.
“We all have to work together. It has to be a collaborative effort at this point, ”said Richardson. “We can’t get out of the way, but we certainly all need to stand up as a community and call and report these issues when they arise.”
1,500 people were at Potbelly’s during the shooting on Sunday, so far there have been no arrests.
TPD is asking people with information to come forward. You can contact Big Bend Crime Stoppers at (850) 222-0890.
