Jennifer Lopez, 51, and Ben Affleck, 48, ended their engagement in 2003 after a whirlwind romance that fed tabloids and paparazzi around the world. J. Lo alluded to the intrusive spotlight of frenzied media surveillance in the 2002 music video for “Jenny from the Block”.

Ultimately, the weight of the global perspective was too great. The couple canceled the wedding the day before the 2003 event. In addition, the fuel that sparked their passions cooled and they made the split official in 2004.
But like many great things that come back in style, the dynamic duo is rebooting. In April, according to J. Los public separation from ex-fiancé Alex Rodriguez, and 19 years after “Bennifer” became a household name, the “Gigli” co-stars were spotted traveling and on vacation in Montana and were last seen on the balcony of a villa in Miami.

We can’t go behind the closed doors of the 10,1114-square-foot property where Lopez and Affleck will be staying until the end of June, according to sources. However, we can get an idea of what draws celebrities home from Manny Angelo Varas, President and CEO of MV Group. He oversaw an extensive redesign and redesign of the property in 2015.
“It’s exactly the kind of residence that celebrities want because it’s made for entertainment but very private. The average lots in this area are 15,000 to 20,000 square feet. This lot is roughly 27,000 square feet, almost double the size of some average Miami Beach lot. This distance from one neighbor to another offers a lot of privacy. It is also located in a lagoon portion of the basin that runs along North Bay Road. This area of the bay attracts lots of tourist boats passing by pointing out the celebrity’s homes. That can be intrusive. But the lagoon makes it very private, special. I think that’s the appeal of having this expansive view of the bay [100-square-feet] but not the intrusive nature of the tourist boats and the paparazzi, “says Varas.

Varas designed and remodeled the house for DJ Louis Puig, who bought the house in 2006 for $ 5.8 million.
“It really is a masterpiece for entertainers. The previous owner, a night club owner, wanted to create a space that would allow entertainment and relaxation, and let people enjoy the best of both indoor and outdoor living. I think that’s what a lot of celebrities are looking for, ”says Varas.

The property has 11 bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, a gym, a home office, a spa, a hot tub, a jetty, a large outdoor area with a pool and a garage for six cars.
“We rebuilt the main structure and created a pod format with three interconnected structures. The design allows residents to move easily through the structures. There is a main structure, guest room structure and staff structure at the front of the property with a six car garage under the staff quarters. DJ Puig wanted to create a space where staff is practically invisible but can come out if necessary. The staff quarters have a kitchen and four bedrooms. The big invisible hinge doors, frameless doors, movable wall systems and large glass panels just came out when we were doing the remodel, so this was original and unique. We also built in a floating staircase, “he says.

Another exclusive feature, says Varas, is the 3 meter long quartz island in the outdoor area.
“The Quartz Island is unique and fully wired to open and share a full DJ system that connects to surround sound speakers throughout the house and outdoors. This made it possible for DJ Puig to hold impromptu events when he came back from the boat or left his nightclub. “says Varas.
Land has increased from $ 500 to $ 600 per square foot to $ 1,000 per square foot in some areas.

“You have the privacy of letting guests in through a separate entrance and the privacy of the main house, but everything is connected,” he says.
Property records indicate that the new owner, jewelry designer Paul Morelli, paid $ 17.5 million for the property in April.

Corcoran Group Broker Associate Julian Johnston represented both buyers and sellers during the sale and arranged leases for the owner. He’s been selling real estate since 2001 and has seen the Miami market change.
During the renovation in 2015, the MV Group added a floating staircase.

“Land has increased from $ 500 and $ 600 per square foot to $ 1,000 per square foot in some areas,” says Johnston.
Land values aren’t the only change. “I used to sell houses to NBA players, but now I sell to the owners of the teams. People came here and spent $ 5 million on a house. Now people are spending $ 30 million to $ 60 million. People buy it There’s a house on North Bay Road that sold for $ 37 million and was built around 2010 and they’re tearing it down and rebuilding it, “added Johnston.

While “Bennifer” could stay here, Johnston says the house isn’t. “The guy who bought it is going to tear it down because the land in Miami is so precious,” he explains.
Johnston says building permits could take up to a year to get hold of. So if you want to sleep where “Bennifer” vacationed in 2021 – and don’t mind paying $ 130,000 a month in rent – you should speak to the leasing agent. “It is available to rent again on July 1st,” says Johnston.
The home has a 100 foot view of the bay and a view of the lagoon, the tourist boats, and the paparazzi.
