The MPs reacted on the spot around 7 a.m. on Thursday and found the 57-year-old male victim still alive but in critical condition. Authorities found that a suspect who was later identified as Seay had fled the scene.
“About two hours later, investigators convinced Seay to face the MPs. Seay was taken into custody without incident, “Johnson said in an email to Dawson County News.
Johnson said the victim survived the attack and was taken to hospital by Dawson County Ambulance Services. His condition on July 26th is unknown.
Arrest warrants issued to Seay by the sheriff’s office claim the victim’s neck was cut several times, causing deep wounds to the neck and cervical vertebrae.
Investigators are still trying to figure out what motivated the attack, Johnson said, but they believe the victim and suspect are related.
Seay has been charged with grievous bodily harm, assault, attempted criminal murder and possession of a knife in the commission of a crime.
He is being detained in the Dawson County Detention Center without commitment.
