MIAMI – Authorities are investigating after a body was found badly burned in Miami.

According to the police, the perpetrator tried to cover up the crime. According to the authorities, the suspect is said to have secured a U-Haul truck and dumped the woman’s body next to train tracks before setting her on fire.

Investigators learned that the woman was strangled before she was put on the tracks.

The police have now arrested 57-year-old Allen Thomas for the crime.

According to his arrest report, investigators watched through surveillance cameras as Thomas secured the truck near train tracks across Northeast 73rd Street and 2nd Avenue just after 5 a.m. on Sunday.

Detectives said he was seen getting up from the driver’s seat and walking to the back of the truck. Shortly afterwards, flames began to burst from the rear of the vehicle. Seconds later, the police said, he drove away.

On Monday, detectives found Thomas and this U-Haul truck in his apartment on Northwest 60th Street and 12th Avenue.

Thomas was arrested, but what the police found in his home was worrying; multiple knives, detergents and blood in line with a fight.

A neighbor who refused to show his face was shocked to learn of the woman’s death, especially after hearing the details.

A witness told police Thomas said the victim was dead in the apartment for two days before her decaying body was dragged into that truck and then cremated.

“He’s already killed and he’ll do it again if he gets the chance,” said the neighbor.

The coroner found that the victim had died as a result of a neck injury.

Unfortunately, the detectives didn’t find out who she is because her body was so badly burned.

Thomas has a long criminal history that dates back to the early 1980s.

He remains behind bars and is charged with second degree murder. He is being held with no bond.
