The Miami Heat don’t have many strikers in their roster. In fact, they lack any kind of depth at this point.
Jimmy Butler and Duncan Robinson were their starting strikers last year, and either of them can act as shooting guards as well. Trevor Ariza spent some time when he was four, but he’ll be a free agent this summer.
Most of Miami’s depth was on the guard position last year, although they are still lacking a real exit guard. Even when the team brought Nemanja Bjelica into play, they rarely played against him.
Signing strikers in the free agency should be a priority for Pat Riley this off-season. However, since the team will likely spend the majority of their money on a point guard, what reasonable-priced strikers could they target this off-season?
Forward Miami Heat Could Sign: Mike Scott
Mike Scott has spent the past two and a half years playing minimal minutes in Philadelphia. His skills would fit nicely from the Miami bench, however.
He’s a 6-7 stretch forward that clears the ground well for her. He didn’t shoot very well last year, but in the past he has proven his ability to shoot efficiently.
His career shooting average is 45.3% from the field and 36.5% from the three-point range. If he could get those numbers up in Miami, it would be just what the heat needs.
At 33, Scott will likely only get a minimum contract this summer. Signing him on such a deal at the end of the off-season would be a solid, low-cost addition.
