Vincent “Vince” Laurenzo, 81, died on March 13, 2021 in Naples, Florida.

Vince was born on May 31, 1939 in Des Moines, Iowa. His parents were Vince and Billy Jean Laurenzo.

Vince met his wife and significant other, Sherrill Mullen, while he was in elementary school in Perry, Iowa. The two married on their birthday in 1960 and had a great life together. Sherrill died in Naples on February 25, 2021. He passed away two weeks after her death and joined her in a better place.

At the age of 10, Vince began helping his grandfather, an Italian immigrant, run a fruit stand in Des Moines Old Town Market and later at his father’s Ford dealership.

After graduating from Notre Dame University, he accepted a finance position at Ford Motor Co. before moving to Massey Ferguson (later Varity Corp.) where he would stay for the remainder of his career.

Vince was well versed in the business world. During his tenure, he was named president and eventually vice-chairman, and retired in 1992 at the age of 55. Massey Ferguson offered him wonderful opportunities to travel the world and introduced him to many interesting people, including British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau.

Most of all, Vince was a family man. Vince and Sherry raised five wonderful children. They were also grandparents of nine loving grandchildren and one great-grandson. Vince loved nothing more than hanging out with his kids and grandchildren, playing soccer on the beach, throwing a big family dinner, or talking about world politics.

He had a great sense of humor, with nicknames for everyone. Vince had clear values ​​and did what he believed. In his heart he always knew instinctively what was right. He was the rock for our family.

Vince preceded his wife Sherrill in death; his parents Vince and Billy Jean Laurenzo; his brother Doug Laurenzo; Son-in-law Bruce Perry; and grandson Danny Laurenzo.

Vince leaves behind the children Lisa Perry, David (Tia Kladis) Laurenzo, Susan Laurenzo, Nancy Laurenzo and Jim (Amy) Laurenzo; Grandson, Matthew Laurenzo, Drew (Elba Morales) Perry, Timothy Laurenzo, Scott Perry, Michael Laurenzo, Eric Perry, Ryan Laurenzo, and Steven Laurenzo; Great-grandson, Hudson Bolstad; and brothers, Rev. James Laurenzo and Jerry (Dianne) Laurenzo.

Vince’s funeral will take place on March 20th at 1:00 p.m. along with the funeral of his wife Sherry at St. Ambrose Cathedral, 607 High St. in Des Moines, under the direction of his brother, Rev. James Laurenzo. He is buried in Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.

The family is available for the guests one hour before the service. COVID-19 Distance and mask requirement. The service will be broadcast live for those unable to attend with a link on the Iles Funeral Home website.

Instead of flowers, commemorative donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Vince’s family would like to express their sincere thanks to the carers Stephanie, Sophia, Nancy and Lexi for all the help, support and love they have given him over the last few years of his life.
