Food Network Magazine picks Tallahassee ice cream as the best in the state

Food Network Magazine made its picks for the best ice cream flavors in all 50 states. The Florida selection is a creation from Tallahassee.
Barbara McGarrah’s “Barb’s Gourmet Brittles” shop on Lake Ella offers all kinds of sweets, including lovingly handcrafted ice creams. She said she did not know that her “sunflower” flavor would be featured in the current issue of Food Network magazine.

“It means so much to me because we’ve worked so hard to make our products the best. And to think that someone thinks our product deserves that kind of recognition. I don’t know how to put this into words! Every now and then I think and have this thought: ‘Your ice cream was voted the best ice cream in Florida!’ “

McGarrah said the item resulted in brisk business in her tiny shop. A very nice gift, she added, as her business is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
