Tallahassee Launches New Neighborhood Mental Health Pilot Program

Tallahassee Launches New Neighborhood Mental Health Pilot Program

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) – Tallahassee is partnering with the Apalachee Center to launch a new program to bring mental health services closer to neighborhoods.

With the new program at Lincoln Center,

The program offers residents the opportunity to take part in up to three free one-on-one consultations with a certified mental health provider, regardless of their health insurance status.

“Supporting the mental health of our community is a top priority for our city. I am proud that we continue to innovate and find new ways to reach our residents in need and connect them with free advice. This new service can help members of our community face or prevent a crisis under the guidance of a psychiatrist, ”said Mayor John Dailey.

Individual counseling sessions are available Monday through Friday, excluding public holidays, by prior arrangement from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Lincoln Center.

The city has designated various facilities as Resilience Hubs, “proactive, community-based solutions that improve public safety and quality of life”.

To create resilience hubs, the city upgraded some existing facilities, including Lincoln Center.

The improvements vary by facility, but may include improvements that strengthen the structure of the building to better withstand natural disasters, as well as offering new on-site services to the community such as mental health counseling and emergency preparedness programs.

To make an appointment at Lincoln Center, call (850) 523-3333, ext. 3221.

After the third appointment, the mental health doctor can refer you to a local partner agency for further support if necessary.

Earlier this year, the Tallahassee Emergency Assessment Mobile Unit (TEAM) began actively responding to non-violent 911 calls made to people in a mental health crisis.

To provide one-on-one assistance, the city also works with Leon County and 211 Big Bend to quickly connect community members with mental health providers.
