ESTERO, Florida – GW Men’s Basketball will travel to Southwest Florida this Thanksgiving to participate in the first-ever Naples Invitational, as announced Thursday. The three-game event, which begins Monday November 22nd, will take place at the Community School of Naples.
The Colonials open the tournament against Horizon League regular season champions Wright State on the 22nd at 2:30 pm. Depending on the outcome of the first game, GW will face Kent State on Tuesday, November 23 at 12 or 5:30 p.m., or CAA Regular Season defending champion James Madison will face East Tennessee State, Murray State, Missouri State and Long Beach State complete the field.
Of the tournament teams, GW only crossed with ETSU once in 1971 and with JMU nine times, most recently in 2012.
The Buff & Blue last competed in an MTE in the 2019-20 season, winning two in three games at the Islands of the Bahamas Showcase against Evansville and Milwaukee.
