Jul 29 (Reuters) – Inter Miami manager Phil Neville said his team were ready to turn the season around after dying to a 1-1 draw with the Philadelphia Union on Sunday to break a six-game losing streak.

A friend of Miami’s co-owner David Beckham, Neville, who replaced Diego Alonso in the postseason, has felt the heat from the club’s dire record of two wins, three draws and eight losses after reaching the MLS playoffs on its opening Season last year.

“It feels like we’ve come around a corner,” Neville told reporters on Thursday.

“I think there was a vacuum of negativity and bad results. I feel like the whole club has turned around when it comes to thinking better, acting better and realizing that we are one big, big one Way ahead of us. “

“And realizing that life doesn’t always bring success – we have to work really hard, fight and come together. The last month has taught everyone at the club that.”

The path for the last-ranked Eastern Conference team begins on Saturday when Miami meets Montreal, which Miami defeated in the club’s two previous meetings this season. Miami has 21 regular season games left.

“We have no illusions – Montreal deserved to win in the previous two games we played against them,” he said.

Miami got a boost on Thursday when they announced the signing of center-back Ventura Alvarado.

The 28-year-old former US national team defender joins Liga MX after a decade and will try to strengthen the defense, which, according to the MLS, has conceded 23 goals in 13 games.

“We have a full squad to choose from and we’ve added Alvarado so we’re a player stronger,” said Neville.
