Cape Coral Community Foundation donates US $ 210,000 to local nonprofits

The Cape Coral Community Foundation has created a niche by helping to empower and grow the impact of nonprofits with lean resources and a staff size of fewer than five. The “small but noisy” Community Foundation transforms communities in southwest Florida with small grants that make a big difference.

Some foundations give grants of $ 500,000 or more; others give $ 5,000 or less. But what is small – and useful – depends on many factors. The size of the organization makes a difference. A $ 5,000 grant can be a significant investment for a grassroots organization, start-up, or grueling nonprofit that operates on a volunteer basis.

Flexible financing can have a higher value than highly restrictive financing. A flexible grant of $ 5,000 can be much more valuable than $ 500,000 with many conditions.

Purchasing power is important. $ 5,000 is spent differently on a small versus a large nonprofit organization. Small foundation grants combined with other small individual donations can maximize and multiply the real value of the donation.

Leverage, introductions, connections, drafting and organizational development or capacity building can all result in a small grant being worth more than its real monetary value. Small grants are powerful. Small scholarships can be dismissed as a drop in the ocean in a world full of scholarships and large programs. But often a small grant can be game-changing.

Small resources can make innovations possible. While key program and operational support must be raised to run core programs – often in large sums – a small grant can be just the thing to add a technology component or test concept.

A small scholarship can open the door to big things. Small grants are the right size for many and can have a big impact. The Cape Coral Community Foundation, sometimes called the Cape Foundation, has partnered with individual donors and business sponsors to provide grants to nonprofit organizations in southwest Florida. The grants strengthen the community in southwest Florida, encourage individuals to be creative and constructive in action, and act as a catalyst for positive change.

The Cape Coral Community Foundation is a public charity that fulfills its mission by facilitating and pooling charitable donations that are used to meet community needs and support local nonprofits. The Community Foundation offers numerous types of scholarship programs, often donor-advised funds, foundations, grants, advocacy funds, donor groups, and more. The community foundation is funded by donations from individuals, families, businesses, and sometimes government grants.

Every year donors and corporate sponsors donate funds to support the leadership work of the Cape Coral Community Foundation as the premier advocate for nonprofit organizations in southwest Florida.

Last autumn, the community foundation selected more than 50 non-profit organizations. While the list is not exhaustive, here are some names of nonprofit organizations that have received grants from the Cape Coral Community Foundation.

The Community Foundation is running the program again this year – and plans to donate $ 210,000 to nonprofits through its fall sponsorship program of $ 2,500 to $ 25,000. The scholarships are competitive, but the scholarship application is easy to submit.

The scholarships are unlimited and can be used for any purpose. Scholarship recipients range from organizations that mentor students, combat trafficking, teach music to children, provide afternoon programs for elementary school students, and provide meals for families in need.
