Now under the brand University of South Florida Tampa General Physicians, the new organization, creates a combined management-service organization with more than 800 healthcare providers under a unified management structure and becomes one of the largest academic medical groups in the state Florida. This combined group strengthens the longstanding relationship between TGH and the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine, the premier academic medical center on the west coast of Florida.

The new nonprofit organization was created through the merger with the administrative infrastructure of the Tampa General Medical Group (TGMG) and the practice group of the USF Health Doctors Faculty. The new organization also promotes coordinated and strategic planning, investment and shared accountability in the joint clinical, research and teaching efforts of both organizations.

University of South Florida Tampa General Physicians will provide the practice infrastructure, clinical management, and related operational and administrative support services. Around 1,400 team members from TGH and USF will join the new organization.

The new group will also benefit the resident physicians at Tampa General Hospital by providing services and management services acquired through the new company.
