Southwest Florida athlete wasted no time getting paid after the NCAA passed the new rule

Southwest Florida athlete wasted no time getting paid after the NCAA passed the new rule

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Peter Simmons III (PS3), one of Southwest Florida’s own, takes advantage of a new rule that allows college athletes to make money from endorsements.

Simmons III, a former Bishop Verot soccer player, teamed up with My Shower Door, a local Southwest Florida company, when he started his freshman at the University of Michigan.

PS3 is just one of many athletes across the country benefiting from the NCAA’s new rule change.

He says it has been his dream to be a Wolverine since childhood, and the extra help from My Shower Door will help turn his dream into a reality.

“You know, I’m just a kid up here who plays soccer, that’s how I think about it. It’s just something by the way that I happened to be there that I’m very grateful for, ”said Simmons III.

On the field, PS3 is all about Wolverine Football, he even grew up in Ann Arbor, MI before moving to Southwest Florida.

On campus, you can see the offensive Michigan lineman posting videos for My Shower Door on social media.

Its job is to show the followers what makes a day in the life of a college athlete.

Simmons III says he’s grateful for the extra money and says that most student athletes don’t have a place on their busy schedules to have a part-time job.

The real advantage for Simmons III, he says, is the skills he learns for life after football.

“It kind of helps for life after football. It helps to build those professional bonds, how you behave in an interview and just that kind of thing, so it’s just a great thing all around, ”he said.

Simmons told Fox 4 that he must follow a few guidelines, such as not wearing any of his Michigan gear with my shower door during his promotions.

Its rules like these that drive players like Simmons to keep learning.

For PS3, he’s encouraged by the new rule, and says it’s just one more way the NCAA makes their student athletes feel supported.
