Two people arrested in connection with gunfire in Tallahassee

Tallahassee police arrested two people in connection with a shooting Tuesday night.

Jeremy Smith, 31, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Hannah Monroe, 26, was taken into custody on charges of aiding and abetting.

Shots were fired around 8:30 p.m. after a woman argued with Smith and Monroe outside their home, according to a TPD press release.

Smith soon started shooting at the victim, who was an acquaintance, but did not hit her.

The police initially responded to an 911 call reporting a shooting in Block 2000 on Midyette Road. They later found Smith and Monroe at 2800 block on North Monroe Street.

During their search, the officers found the gun that was used to shoot the victim, the press release said.

Smith remains in Leon County Jail without bail. Monroe’s deposit is set at $ 1,000. The two will have their first appearance in front of a judge on Thursday afternoon.

According to an analysis by the Tallahassee Democrat, at least 39 shootings have been reported in Tallahassee since the new year. 24 people were injured and eight killed in these shootings.
