After two straight wins in the $ 1 million winners-all-The-Basketball tournament, Blue Collar U, a team made up of alumni from University at Buffalo, will meet in the Sweet 16 Round at Covelli on Tuesday at 7 p.m. on Category 5 from Miami Center in Columbus, Ohio.
Blue Collar defeated Nerd Team, 88-82, and Zip’Em Up, 93-83, in their two previous tournament starts. CJ Massinburg scored 22 points in defeating Zip’Em Up. Wes Clark added 19 to the 23 he got in the team’s inaugural win.
The Category 5 roster includes former New York eminent scholastic Durand Scott, who scored 1,650 points in his career as the Miami Hurricane and was Defensive Player of the Year at the Atlantic Coast Conference in his senior season.
Carmen’s crew of Ohio State alum will take on boxing champ Floyd Mayweather’s The Money Team in the second game of the TBT double headers in Columbus at 9 p.m.
Tuesday’s winners will advance to Championship Weekend and will meet for the Columbus Regional Title in Dayton, Ohio on Saturday when four regional winners are determined ahead of next week’s Final Four.
Other regionals are in Wichita, Can., Charleston, WV, and Champaign-Urbana, Illinois.
