Man accused of raping a Miami University student after driving her home from the bar

A man who drove a Miami University student home from a bar is accused of raping her, according to the Oxford Division of Police. Officers responded around 1:20 p.m. on North College Avenue Saturday after receiving an 911 call from someone reporting a report of sexual assault. The caller said they saw a Miami University student lying in a front yard crying. The student told the passerby that she had been raped. The student said she took a lift from a man in an uptown bar she didn’t know. Oxford Police identified the man as Zachary Frankart, 21, from Clyde, Ohio. Police said Frankart is a building contractor who works in Oxford. A criminal complaint states that Frankart helped the 21-year-old woman out of his truck “because she was unable to walk and” helped her to the grassy area in front of the address. “According to court documents, he then attacked her and did raped her before stealing her cell phone and leaving. “It was surprising to me,” said Lt. Lara Fening. “This is an example of a predatory person taking advantage of someone’s situation or vulnerability. “The police said the 911 was helping the police to solve the crime quickly.” A bystander heard this person in distress and inquired about it, “said Fening.” Not everyone would be willing to do this … Some people are concerned and scared or concerned about the implications of involvement and that person wasn’t. “Police charged Frankart with rape and theft. He was charged Monday morning and is currently in the Butler County Jail.
