Naples coach makes SWFL a training target

Naples coach makes SWFL a training target

NAPLES, Florida – From training NFL players in his garage to having his own setup in a year, Naples-born Anthony Tumbarello is making southwest Florida a place to train.

For some NFL players, the big game begins on Sunday at the Coach Tumbarello Performance in southwest Florida.

“I think the guys who want to put work first will come here,” said Gardner Minshew, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback.

For the past several years, Tumbarello has put NFL players in the ‘239’. He has coached players in garages, parking lots and fields all over Naples but built it into a state-of-the-art facility in Bonita Springs last year.

“I think before we didn’t have a home, we were in the garage in the field, so to speak. I think that now gives us a home base and you know the sky’s the limit, ”said Tumbarello.

It has everything it takes to attract and train some of the world’s best athletes.

“The training is the best I’ve ever experienced. You know, if there was better training in Alaska, I would be in Alaska, but it’s right here, so here I am, ”Minshew said.

While the decor is top notch, it is the man himself who makes people come back.

“His passion, his intensity is everything,” said Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver and Naples alum Michael Walker.

“I mean, he brings all of these guys down here, and it’s also about the group of guys that we have down here and they’re all drawn to him. I mean, it starts with him and we’ll just keep building on it. “

“As much work as we put into it, it fits right in and I think it’s fun coming here every day and working with like-minded people who want to try to be the best,” said Minshew.

So why build here and not in one of the larger Florida cities like Miami, Tampa or Fort Lauderdale, which already have a large professional sports training base? The answer for Anthony was always simple.

“This is my home and I’ve always wanted to put it here,” he said. “You know, everyone always told me we couldn’t make it, but when you provide quality workout and your attention to detail gets to the point and you show that you want to help these guys get better and them to help compete at the highest level? Level and be a part of the process they will come. “

Anthony’s next dream is to make Southwest Florida a top notch training destination and, like he did with the facility, he is taking up the challenge.

“Our mission is to be the new standard for training here in southwest Florida,” he said. “Just make this a home base for athletes who are coming down and for anyone serious about their training who wants to get better and see results every time they come to Southwest Florida. CTP is the first gym they go to. “

Anthony will continue with the NFL players for another week and will continue to do personal training in the meantime. He anticipates more MLB players will join his program once the off-season kicks off in November.
