Putin presides over the Russian Navy Day celebrations in St. Petersburg

Moscow, July 25th (EFE) .- Russian President Vladimir Putin presided over the 325th anniversary of the Russian Navy Day in Saint Petersburg on Sunday.

In a speech, Putin said his country continues to successfully develop new weapons, adding that the Navy has all the necessary means to “protect the homeland and national interests”.

He spoke of high-precision hypersonic weapons that “have no analogues in the world and are constantly being perfected”.

“We are able to detect every enemy target under water, on the surface of the sea or in the air and, if necessary, to deal an irreversible blow,” emphasized the Russian leader.

With around 4,000 soldiers, more than 50 ships, motor boats and submarines as well as 48 aircraft and helicopters, the Navy showed its strengths at the parade.

The Navy is expected to receive over 180 new ships and ships by 2027, including the hypersonic cruise missile Tsirkon, which, according to the Russian upgrade program, can fly at nine times the speed of sound. EFE
