Gainesville Police Department and the Gainesville High School soccer team struck the bars Thursday night to raise awareness of gun violence.

Gainesville Public Information Officer Graham Glover says the elimination of gun violence is a joint effort between officials and the public.

He says GPD wants to “continue the dialogue… continue the positive conversations between our officials and members of the fellowship, you know where they can be strengthened. Where maybe even some of our officers can mentor some of these young men who will be in the field tonight and talk about how we can come together collectively to reduce the violence in our great city. “
