The Tampa Police Department wants to move forward with the Behavioral Health Division - CBS Atlanta

TAMPA, Fla. (CW44 news at 100 – On Thursday, July 15, the city council approved a contractual arrangement between the (ACTS) Agency for Community Treatment Services and the Tampa Police Department to proceed with a behavioral health unit.

The unit will include 4 civil servants and 4 psychiatrists. Mental health professionals and law enforcement will work in teams to handle mental health calls. This is a one year pilot program with the expectation of future expansion.

The unit is still looking for more licensed psychiatrists to join the team.

Interested parties can apply using the link below. Once all employees are in place, the unit is expected to be ready for use by late summer
