Best locations for solar panels, Gainesville’s vaccine mandate

The vehicles are parked under a solar carport roof.

The best locations for solar

The solar panels installed about six years ago at Gainesville’s Veterans Affairs Medical Center produce about 20 KW hours during peak sunny periods and an average of 12 KW per hour year round. At 23 cents per KWH, that’s almost $ 150,000 in savings per year.

The VA system uses 100% of the electricity produced. There are panels above the parking lot and the bed tower. The modular design of the panel installation allows any replacement panel to be plugged in, minimizing the cost of replacement in the 25-30 year lifespan with panels the cost of which has decreased significantly over time.

It is time for Alachua County senior management, the University of Florida, and property developers to take responsibility for using solar energy for the benefit of all of Alachua. I believe there are acres of roofs and parking spaces that can be used for solar panels.

There is no need to cover beautiful green spaces at the expense of nearby housing values. Climate change is real and the public good should take precedence over short-term private and budgetary interests.

Vaccination order

To the city officials suing the city for the vaccination mandate, Geez, the 200 of you are going to give the city of Gainesville a hard time, and it will likely take months, but we’ll get started right away and get your replacements trained and hired as soon as possible . So don’t worry, we will continue to work to protect all of our citizens, including you.

Trump encouraged violence

Facts have emerged showing that the January 6 violence was planned and orchestrated by the Trump campaign and the Trump family. The event was promoted by two pro-Trump groups and made more professional and larger with the involvement of Trump staff.

Violence was encouraged by Trump and other speakers. Trump said days earlier that the rally would “be wild”. At the event, he said, “If you don’t fight like hell, you will have no more land” and “You will never retake our country with weakness.” He told them to “march on the Capitol.”

Don Jr .: Trump “has more of a struggle than anyone else put together, and you have to stand up and we have to march on the Capitol today.” Eric Trump: “You can be a hero or a zero. The choice is yours, but we’re all watching. “Rep. Mo Brooks:” Now our ancestors have sacrificed their blood … and sometimes their lives to give us … an America that is the greatest nation in world history. So, I have a question for you – are you ready to do the same? ”

Those at the rally acted as Trump and the organizers wanted: violent.

Absolute rejection

It puzzles the mind that so many people absolutely deny the severity of this COVID crisis. Anti-mask, anti-vaccine and sports venues fill up to the last seat: it’s okay because we can make decisions about our own bodies. Who cares if infections increase and our health system is stretched to the limit that only existed in the early days of the pandemic. What’s happening?
