While last week’s preseason classics were fun and helped curb the appetite for the return of high school football, things will get right this Friday when the high school football regular season officially begins.
So far, only one team from the Gainesville area has been suspended due to COVID-19. Union County’s plans to host Fort White on Friday were foiled after Fort White lost too many players to quarantine protocols this week.
After the cancellation, there will be 17 games with in-area teams this Friday, 12 of which will be played in the region.
