WINK NEWS
The chances were slim … the path seemed impossible … but they made it.
WINK News first brought you the story of an Afghan man who identifies himself under the code name “Frank” for protection and tries to save his family’s life by escaping from Kabul, Afghanistan and bringing them to Southwest Florida.
Now that he’s out of Afghanistan, he feels safe to show his face in pictures again.
Frank was the personal interpreter for Aaron Forum, a Cape Coral man who served eight months in Afghanistan as US Army Special Operations. The two worked tirelessly together in 2010 and forged a strategic alliance.
Forum, which was in constant communication with Frank via “WhatsApp,” confirmed with WINK News that Frank and six other people, including two of Frank’s sons, his wife and daughter, have left Afghanistan to find a better life in Afghanistan Southwest Florida.

Frank and his family are currently in Kuwait and escaped by military aircraft around 24 hours on Friday after an IED bomb killed 13 American soldiers and at least 90 Afghans at Kabul airport.
Frank had first contacted Aaron weeks ago and asked him to help save his life.
“There was one word that really struck me in it, the word brother,” said Forum. He said, ‘You are my brother. And I’m doing this for you, please help me. ‘ So it was a feeling of sheer helplessness, but also a feeling of urgency, trying to get it, trying to get what he needed. “
Frank got what he needed. And while their venture is far from over, his family’s journey has come one step closer to the American dream.
