TALLAHASSEE, Florida. – Thousands of Floridians have received antibody treatments for COVID-19 at one of the state’s 21 infusion sites.

Austin Harper, a Florida man whose father is under treatment, waited for his father Monday outside an antibody infusion center in Tallahassee.

“He’s just getting a shot. Hopefully he’ll feel better, though, ”said Harper.

Harper said his symptoms came on quickly.

“He felt really wonderful yesterday and today he’s low on energy and doesn’t really want to do anything,” said Harper.

Pedestrian traffic was slow in the center on Monday. There were only a handful of cars in the parking lot.

One woman said the four shots were painless, what bothered her was that she waited an hour after they finished.

In Jacksonville, the governor said the treatments were working.

“Emergency room visits for Covid-like illnesses have decreased,” said Governor Ron DeSantis.

Health Secretary Simone Marstiller has first-hand experience with the treatments … her daughter.

“When we left the infusion center that Saturday afternoon, her fever was 105. The next morning, Sunday morning, at ten o’clock, it had dropped to 99.6,” said Marstiller.

In the Capitol, Democrat Nikki Fried again called for masking and vaccination.

“I’m begging again, Floridaians, get vaccinated,” Fried said.

When it came to antibodies, she said, speak to your doctor.

“Preventive medicine is still the best,” says Fried.

The treatments are free for patients.

You can come by or make an appointment online.

Fried also said calls to poison control lines increase after some people take a veterinary de-wormer for COVID.

She warned against self-medication.
