The necessary repetition of the enigmatic Isaiah Thomas

The necessary repetition of the enigmatic Isaiah Thomas

Believe it or not, the training camp is just around the corner and the Miami Heat have a squad seat available. Most likely, Miami will use this squad spot for a buyout candidate during the season.

But would it be worthwhile for Miami to check out the free agent Isaiah Thomas? For the first time since his days in Boston, Thomas appears to be the healthiest.

“I move like before the injury,” says Thomas, “and that was the most important thing I wanted to show people – that I haven’t lost a step.

I am still fast and fast. I am still powerful. I can move again. “(SI Howard Beck)

That’s what Thomas had to say in February. He told Howard Beck of Sports Illustrated.

We all know what was on Thomas’s mind in recent years. So regardless of his game on the court, it’s nice to see him healthy if you’re a fan of the game.

Should Miami give the once dynamic little guy a chance? Is it worth it to them?

The Miami Heat have a place in the squad and could always use another man there with their offensive challenges in recent seasons. But is Isaiah Thomas the type?

Miami is going to be last in the squad at some point, but I don’t think Thomas is the guy Miami should be looking at. Miami’s bank could add a little more clout.

This is where Tyler Herro comes in. This is a big year for Herro, who has to supply Miami with buckets from the bank.

Personally, I think Herro will have a good year off the bench. Herro will be in the game to make shots and catch three of them on fire.

He has to lead the second team and probably lead them in scoring. With Herro playing a key role for Miami, I don’t see Thomas and Herro working together on the second unit.

Miami’s focus on defense leaves a lot of questions unanswered. Herro is already having problems on defense and having Thomas on the ground at the same time would be terrible for Miami.

At this point in Thomas’ career, would it be terrible for Miami to get him on a training camp deal? No.

Why not take a look at Thomas to see if he still has that weirdness? Yes, head coach Erik Spoelstra could stagger the Thomas / Herro minutes, but is it really worth it?

Thomas would have the ball in hand and fire shots many times, so Herro would have fewer shots. Again, as mentioned, that’s not that good as this is a big year for Herro coming off the bank.

Thomas doesn’t help Herro on either end. It can all come down to this for me.

And if Miami doesn’t bring Kendrick Nunn back, why should they bring Thomas, who has a similar game to Nunn? It is clear that Miami really wants Herro to make the most of their year and loads of opportunities.

I would be happy if Thomas got another chance for a squad, I also cannot imagine that Thomas would fit into this current Miami Heat team.
