Cape Coral Farmers Market Stand destroyed by Aida’s outer band

Stalls at the Cape Coral Farmer's Market destroyed by Ida's outer ribbons

When Hurricane Aida passed southwest of Florida on Saturday, it still left some damage.

Over 60 stalls at the Cape Coral Farmers Market were destroyed. Some business owners say this is the worst damage they have ever seen.

The seller has managed to clean up some of what the outer gang left behind from Hurricane Aida, but all of the mess is not cleared up yet. What started as a big day quickly turned ugly.

Michael Wallace is with Pine Island Botanicals. “That’s right, yeah, we thought the weather was coming,” Wallace said.

Claudia St. Onge is a business economist at the Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce. “The sky turned black and within minutes the rain turned sideways and the wind was market damage, not rain,” said St. Onji.

St. Onji has been the director of the Chamber of Commerce for 25 years, but she says she has never seen anything like it. “There is no such thing. There is no such thing,” she said.

According to St. Onji, the stalls and all parts of the small business that were brought to the Cape Coral Farmers Market on Saturday were destroyed.

Elizabeth Coquilard is produced by Southwest Florida. “” It went in and out of the market literally in just four minutes. And it was destroyed, ”said Coquilard.

Coquilard says the Cape Coral Farmers Market has sold products from southwest Florida every Saturday for the last 20 years. And like St. Onji, she saw so much damage. You and another seller agree that repairs are expensive.

“People literally lost hundreds of dollars to the product,” Wallace said.

“We all need to get together as a community to get new tents and new tables so we can get them back next week,” Coquilard said. “NSo You don’t just lose the entire business. “

We hope that with adequate support, those who have destroyed SMEs can recover.

Even if the number of sellers declines, St. Onji plans to rebuild the farmers’ market next Saturday. They say they can do the same because the community has supported them for 25 years.
