Cherokee Bluff takes off in a flash in the 60-21 win over Chestatee

On Friday, Cherokee Bluff continued its run through the non-regional portion of the game plan with a 60-21 win over Chestatee at Flowery Branch.

Senior running back Jayquan Smith finished the game for the Bears (2-0) with 132 yards on 10 carries and two scores.

Cherokee Bluff senior quarterback Sebastian Irons was successful with 9 of 11 throws for 120 yards and two touchdowns.

Irons also scored two quick touchdowns for the Bears looking to defend their Region 7-3A championship from 2021.

Cherokee Bluff took control of the game with seven goals in the first half.

“Really just proud of our performance tonight, I think our boys came out with some energy to play,” said Cherokee Bluff coach Tommy Jones. “It was a good night”

For Chestatee (0-1), senior quarterback Luke Bornhorst completed 10 of 20 throws for 243 yards.

Wide receiver Jhace Justice showed off his playmaking skills for the Bears early in the first half by catching a 30-yard jump ball as well as a 35-yard touchdown grab.

Next, Cherokee Bluff is hosting East Forsyth Freshmen in Flowery Branch on September 3rd; Chestatee will host Union County on September 3rd at War Eagles Stadium in Gainesville.
