Forecast: Seabreeze Rain Friday – ABC7 Southwest Florida

Forecast: Seabreeze Rain Friday - ABC7 Southwest Florida

We’ll be at a higher level on Friday between disruptions so rain coverage will go back to seasonal levels.

After beginning in the mid-1970s in most parts of southwest Florida, 30% of the area will rain on Friday afternoons, with most of the rain developing near the ocean breeze limit. This appears to favor the areas west of I-75 as the east wind holds ocean breezes in the urban corridor and on the beaches. The afternoon highs hit the low 90s before the rain sets in.

On Saturday, an upper level disturbance is hovering over South Florida that will cool the upper part of the atmosphere back down and facilitate rain and thunderstorms from occurring. The rain coverage on Saturday doubles to 60 percent in the afternoon and evening. Saturday morning will be dry.

On Sunday, when the upper level disturbances move away from us, afternoon rain coverage drops to 40 percent. This is only a little higher than normal as some of the moisture lags behind the outgoing upper tier disruption.

On the trail of the tropics:

The small wave we tracked in the Atlantic Ocean about 950 miles east of the Delmarva Peninsula doesn’t look very impressive. The Hurricane Center keeps the development chance in the next five days low (10 percent).
