Tampa company Smack Apparel was a huge hit at the Lightning Boat Parade

Tampa company Smack Apparel was a huge hit at the Lightning Boat Parade

TAMPA, Fla. – Derek Miller and his staff at Smack Apparel have been working overtime since the Tampa Bay Lightning awarded a Stanley Cup for the second consecutive year during their boat parade last Monday.

“It’s been a crazy five hours and it’s been insane ever since,” Miller said.

Miller is still shocked to see almost every Lightning player in one of his shirts at the championship boat parade.

“When (Steven) Stamkos is out in the ‘Back to Boat’ jersey and lifts the trophy, it’s just an exciting feeling because of all the work that has gone into it. When the captain wears the shirt, it’s exciting to see, ”said Jeff Attinella of Smack Apparel.

The best-selling shirt was taken by Bolt’s star striker Nitika Kucherov’s epic post-game press conference when he used the phrase “Number One Bull ****” on several occasions.

“We got all this news on social media: ‘This has to be a t-shirt,” Miller said.

They sold 50 overnight and that number rose. Then the unexpected happened. A representative from Kucherov’s agent called.

“He said, ‘Hey, Kucherov saw your shirts. He really likes it. He wants to order 100 of them, ‘”Miller said.

“(Kucherov) asked us to come in and get the design going,” Dan Milstein, Kucherov’s agent, told ABC Action News sports host Kyle Burger. “He had some ideas for the design. There shouldn’t be a hashtag (next to the number one), it should be the word ‘number’. “

Kucherov also wanted the shirt in white instead of blue.

“We had it censored,” said Attinella. “He was a fan of the uncensored one, so we did that too.”

Kucherov asked for another jersey, “18M Over The Cap”, to troll other teams and their fans who claim the Lightning was cheated by exceeding the salary cap. Instead, Kucherov proudly flaunts his team’s legal and clever cadre maneuvers.

These inquiries were called last Friday and with a parade on Monday it was time to get back to work.

“Very quickly, how do we get as many shirts as possible to print on,” said Attinella. “We’ve talked about walking around to different stores and buying every white t-shirt the stores have to offer.”

When the job was done, the Smack Apparel crew delivered the box containing the shirts.

“You can hand in the rest on Sunday morning,” Miller recalls, as Mistein told him. “We’ll be on our yacht doing the Stanley Cup if you want. Yes, we want to do that. “

Just this week, Smack Apparel posted a 2,000% increase in sales.
