On the trail of the tropics

Tropical Depression Five has stepped into Tropical storm Elsa In the Atlantic. This breaks the record for that earliest fifth named Atlantic storm, beat last year’s Edouard.

Models vary on how much this system evolves as it is haunted across the Caribbean. Some predictions Models strengthen the system and trace it towards Hispaniola and Cuba while other forecast models weaken and dissolve the system as a whole.

As far as potential impact on Florida, it is still too early as the course and intensity of the potential tropical cyclone are still uncertain. If If it survives its trail through the Caribbean, it could possibly get into the Gulf of Mexico early next week.
