Where to eat vegan hot dogs in Tampa Bay on July 4th

Something on the weekend of July 4th absolutely makes me have a hot dog.

• I’m not alone: Tampa is one of the leading national markets for hot dog and dinner sausage sales, according to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council.

While it seems There’s nothing more patriotic than putting some meat on the grill, you’ll be surprised how delicious meatless hot dogs can be – and there are plenty of delicious options in Tampa Bay.

Where: You can always get a vegetarian dog at Mel’s in Tampa.

• On Saturday Nah Dogs pop-up cart – my favorite! – Serves his “Stop Scaring My Dog” with baked beans, coleslaw, macaroni salad and Carolina BBQ sauce from 12-3pm in the Valhalla Bakery in St. Pete.

Try this out at home: My favorite brands for grilling are Lightlife Jumbo Smart Dogs and Field Roast Smoked Frankfurters.
