DADE CITY – A man died after two motorcycles collided Sunday morning in Pasco County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
A motorcyclist, a 34-year-old man from St. Petersburg, was driving north on Jessamine Road at 10 a.m. on Sunday and approaching Amberlea Road. Another motorcyclist, a 48-year-old man from Wesley Chapel, was driving behind him, soldiers said.
The Wesley Chapel man then overtook the traffic, overtook the traffic on his left, and pulled into the south lane. As he tried to return to the northbound lane, the Wesley Chapel man crashed into the St. Petersburg man’s side.
Both motorcycles overturned on impact. The man from Wesley Chapel stopped on the strip of grass and the man from St. Petersburg stopped on the street, soldiers said.
First responders transported the men to a local hospital, where the Wesley Chapel man died. The man from St. Petersburg suffered serious injuries.
Both motorcyclists wore helmets.
