TALLAHASSEE, Florida (WTXL) – Sunday marks the official start of Hanukkah and Chabad of Tallahassee used the first night to give back to others.
The 21st annual Hanukkah celebration of the Jewish community on Lake Ella began a few hours ago with the solemn illumination of the menorah.
But look at this, it’s a unique menorah, built from community food donations that were collected on Sunday.
This is the first year the group has focused on a charity menorah.
“The whole idea of Hanukkah is again a message of hope, light and positivity and we think to combine kindness with hope, Hanukkah, which is a message of hope, kindness and light, with supplying the needy and the less fortunate connect to.” said Rabbi Schneur Oirechman.
These donations go to people in the community after the holidays.
