Here are today’s top stories in Tampa:

1. A former Sweet Tomatoes restaurant in Tampa sold for $ 4.1 million. The building has sat empty since the Salad and soup Chain shutdown permanently, at the start of the pandemic in May 2020. There are no details yet as to what the buyer plans to do with the property near Midtown Tampa. (Economic observer)

2. Return: Onbikes Winter Wonder Ride for charity will be back 11th December to Downtown Tampa. The theme is Year is Grinchmas. The ride helps raise money for bBicycles and helmets for children at risk and families in Tampa Bay. Afterwards there will be live music with DJ Jazzy Jeff. (ABC action messages)

3. The Tampa Bay rowdies fight for the USL championship title tonight at Al-Lang Stadium in downtown St. Petersburg against Orange County Football Club. Tickets are available online. (Creative lounging)

4. New COVID-19 variant: The World Health Organization (WHO) on Friday classified as worrying new variant of COVID-19, first discovered in South Africa, As a highly transmittable virus of concern and called it “Omicron.” The variant was discovered in travelers from South Africa to Belgium, Botswana, Hong Kong and Israel. 5. A. Florida mom went go viral on TikTok to the Capturing a 7 foot python wEar aprons and flip flops. 69-year-old Lorraine Kimmel from Stuart, Daughter of Wildlife Agent Mike Kimmel, grabbed the loose python in her Thanksgiving cooking gear by the tail. Mike Kimmel intended to euthanize and cook the python as his contribution to dinner. (Tampa patch)
