The Tallahassee family in distress after a fire ravaged their kitchen

TALLAHASSEE, Florida (WCTV) – It is hard to know what you will do when tragedy strikes, but Eddie Thomas and his family discovered that if it happens, it will take some luck and loving hearts to overcome.

A few weeks ago, Eddie Thomas and his family slept soundly in their home until what he calls divine intervention woke him up.

“I looked over and saw that my wife was still asleep, then I jumped up and could smell some burning and ran in and the entire kitchen was on fire,” Eddie Thomas said.

The fire swallowed most of the kitchen and almost all of their food before Thomas could put it out with a fire extinguisher. The burned down kitchen was considered the icing on the cake for a tough year for the family.

“It was really a tough year for me and my family because I’m self-employed and had problems with my truck,” says Thomas. “And you know, because it took longer than expected to repair my truck, I used up all of my savings.”

And with the holidays approaching fast, Thomas knew he couldn’t solve this problem on his own, so he asked for help on Facebook. The response was better than he’d ever expected.

“I mean the love the community gave me. I just want to thank everyone, because you know that they have really rallied for our support and you only know that it is still good in this world, ”exclaimed Thomas.

The help, a big turning point for the family who had their doubts but Thomas says he was grateful that he swallowed his pride to ask.

It took me serious sacrifices to take up this post and I don’t regret it because it really gave me the chance to see God at work in God’s people, you know what I mean, ”explained Thomas.

Thomas says that thanks to the donations, his family enjoyed Thanksgiving and is forever grateful to this loving community.
