“Every year the tree I decorate has a different theme, a different band, and something new,” said Williams.
This year’s trees include March of the Penguins, which shows a snowy scene with several penguins sliding down the tree; “Santa’s Coming to Town,” complete with Santa’s red and white suit and ornaments depicting cookies, sleigh bells, and children’s toys; and Georgia on My Mind, which sits in Jack Waldrip’s office and shows his love for the Georgia Bulldogs.
One tree that stands out from the crowd is a dress Williams makes especially for her close friend Theresa Painter, owner of North Georgia Aesthetics. The tree participates in a competition between the local medical offices of the Pediatrics Associate building, which they won with an angel tree last year.
“It’s different and it’s not your basic tree,” she said. “It’s out of the box.”
Williams said her dream was to one day design and decorate the Georgia governor’s tree with any theme.
Looking ahead to next year, Williams has already started brainstorming ideas with a sophisticated and ironic “Grinch Who Stole Christmas” tree to get ready for the 2022 holiday season. Her 12-year-old daughter is already helping with the annual tradition that Williams wants to pass down through generations.
“It is a legacy that I can pass on to my daughter from her grandmother, to me, to her.” She said.
